FastWorldLoader
Opens Minecraft worlds from templates kept in memory, for Spigot and Paper 1.8.8 to 26.x. No region files are copied, and old maps are upgraded to the server's version only once instead of every time they load. Built for minigame networks that reset an arena between games.
Buying
FastWorldLoader is a paid plugin. The store page is coming soon.
Why it's fast
Since 1.13 the server re-runs the full chunk upgrade (DataFixer) every time it loads a map an older Minecraft wrote — whether you copy the world folder or not. FastWorldLoader does that work once, stores the result, and opens every world from memory in the same server tick.
Spigot 26.3 — opening the 1.8 map sg1 (625 chunks) | Time |
|---|---|
Copying the folder and loading it (WorldCreator) | 28.4 s |
| FastWorldLoader, template not upgraded | 12.1 s |
| FastWorldLoader, upgraded template | 1.3 s |
Measured on the author's machine; your numbers vary with map and hardware.
What you get
| No folder copying | A world opens from the template's chunks in memory, in the same tick; its changes stay in memory and are dropped on close. |
| One-time map upgrade | Old maps (1.8+) are brought up to the server's version once, in the background, and stored; they stop re-upgrading on every load. |
| Every version | One jar for Spigot and Paper, 1.8.8 to 26.x. |
| Nether & End | A template remembers the dimension it was imported from and opens as it, or as another one on request. |
| Network sharing | With MySQL / MariaDB, a template imported on one server is on every server within seconds; each server opens from a local cache, so it stays fast. |
| Mixed versions | Servers of different Minecraft versions share the same templates; each gets the map upgraded for its own version. |
| Developer API | A clean, versioned API other plugins build on, free to compile against. |
| Crash-safe | A world that fails to open falls back cleanly; the database being down never takes the server down. |
